 | Author Visits - A K-8 practitioner, I have a
great deal of experience engaging and entertaining children. I
can cater my visit toward your (standards-based) curriculum. In the past, I have
given readings and taught mini-lessons in writing. I have also
given a presentation on Famous Asian-Americans geared toward high
school students.

| Manuscript Reviews/Editing - I can review/edit your
creative and academic papers. As a university instructor who grades a
lot of papers and a published writer who participates in my own
critique groups, I am heavy with a red pen and come with a lot of
suggestions. (For academic papers: I am particularly adept
in APA style but have worked with MLA.)

| Curriculum Writing - I have experience writing curriculum
both for individual classrooms and for the district. I am strong
in the following content areas: language arts, social studies
and humanities. I am very competent with standards-based
curriculum and instruction, research-based strategies and pedagogy.
I have particular expertise in effectively employing authentic literature. |
| Professional Development - I have given
professional development workshops/seminars in effectively employing
multicultural children's literature, in English Language Development
strategies, and in teaching writing. Based on a needs analysis,
I will cater to your staff/school.

| Grantwriting - I have had experience writing and
obtaining small classroom grants.

| School Plays, Talent Shows, etc. - Throughout my
teaching career, I have directed and written readers' theaters, school
plays, talent shows, etc. I am a strong supporter of the arts
and believe that it is an integral part of the school curriculum.
I am especially talented in adapting popular stories/plays for the
school stage. I could offer my writing, consulting and/or
directing services. This is a great way to build community and to
solicit parent volunteers. |
