April 2007: I had two speaking events scheduled in San Diego at Paul Ecke Elementary School in Encinitas, CA and at San Diego State University. (It's so amazing that people are now actually paying to hear me speak. Wow!) February 21, 2007: I presented THE JADE DRAGON and talked about writing/publishing for children for a SDSU Children's Lit course. February 16, 2007: I presented THE JADE DRAGON and facts about the Chinese New Year at Explorer Elementary School. February 10, 2007: Carolyn Marsden and I presented and signed THE JADE DRAGON at Books, Inc. in San Francisco. January 27, 2007: I attended a reception at the San Diego Public Library. They hosted an exhibit on local authors. January 2007: I received a lovely review for the National Center for the Study of Children's Literature. Check it out: http://childlit.sdsu.edu/reviews/r-Marsden.htm December 9, 2006: I presented at the SCBWI meeting. December 8, 2006: I did an author visit and book signing at Liberty Elementary School. November 2006: I guest lectured for a Children's Lit class at SDSU and I will do an author visit at Rancho Del Rey Middle School in Chula Vista. November 25, 2006: My first speaking/signing at Barnes & Noble. October 2006: I received copies of ALAN Review with my research article entitled, "Quantity and Quality: The Need for Culturally Authentic Trade Books in Asian American Young Adult Literature." September 23, 2006: I hosted and helped coordinate the 2nd annual DSCE Graduate Research Symposium. My friend and mentor, Dr. Cheryl S. Cox (mayoral candidate for Chula Vista--vote for her!!!) was the keynote speaker. I presented my research on Asian-American children's literature. September 9, 2006: Carolyn Marsden and I were invited to be panelists at the Central Coast Book and Author Festival. Other panelists for Candlewick: Cecil Castellucci and Mark London Williams. Fine, fine people/writers! June 10, 2006: I went to Manhattan Beach to accept the Beiter Award from the Children's Literature Association for my dissertation research. I also had the pleasure of meeting and befriending Cynthia Kadohata, Newbery Medal winner for Kira-Kira, as she was the keynote speaker. April 22, 2006: The first public presentation of THE JADE DRAGON at the Palm Springs Book Festival. THE JADE DRAGON is now available for pre-sales on www.amazon.com. April 2006: Education Review
